Clint has been competing in chainsaw carving competitions and attending exhibitions since 2016.
He recently won the 2024 People’s Choice Award in Campbell River, BC at Transformations on the Shore. The Pacifica Logging Truck, complete with an overload of logs, was a crowd pleaser at the event.
He took the People’s Choice Award at Powell River Logger Sports in 2019. His Vertol helicopter stood out with its details and clean lines.
Since Powell River has been Clint’s home since 2005, he is a regular each year at the local competition, held at Willingdon Beach. The event attracts competitors from across Canada and other parts of the world.
Competitions are particularly challenging because of long days of physical work and focus. Carvers typically work 10 to 12 hours on their competition pieces for up to five consecutive days. Time constraints and hot weather make for an intense few days, but the carvers have an amazing and rare camaraderie. They offer each other support, guidance and knowledge to help each competitor complete some of their best work.
